Recurring intelligence. Structured decisions. Organisational learning.

Make material search-driven exposure visible, owned and governed over time.

An Annual Search Governance Agreement establishes a recurring operating system for observing material search environments, supporting leadership decisions, tracking organisational action and reviewing what changed.

Designed around material exposure and organisational need—not a fixed list of SEO deliverables.
Formal definition

Annual Search Governance is a recurring advisory and control engagement through which material search-driven evidence is observed, interpreted, assigned, decided, acted on and reviewed.

It creates the conditions required to manage Organic Search and the wider Search and Discovery Environment as a risk-aware business function.

Appropriate conditions
Organic Search materially affects revenue or acquisition several brands, products or markets exist multiple internal teams participate several agencies or vendors are involved trust materially affects the decision information is regulated or sensitive AI representation requires continuing review technical dependencies create recurring exposure competitors move quickly leadership requires early warning recommendations repeatedly remain unowned transformation or migration is ongoing
Entry readiness

Annual Search Governance normally begins after Implementation Enablement and Governance Mobilisation, or after SI confirms that equivalent operating capability already exists. Minimum readiness conditions:

priority exposure is defined
an executive sponsor is confirmed
business and execution owners are assigned
the initial Search Risk Register exists
approved implementation workstreams are active or equivalent controls are operating
evidence access is agreed
the Governance Forum mandate is accepted
the organisation can resource approved actions

Direct entry from the Assessment is appropriate only where these conditions already exist.

When it may not be necessary
issue is isolated
internal capability is sufficient
exposure is immaterial
evidence is too limited
client cannot assign owners
organisation seeks execution only
leadership will not participate
observation would not change action
Governance operating loop
Business strategy and risk appetite

No guarantee

Annual governance does not guarantee:

rankings AI inclusion traffic growth revenue competitor behaviour customer choice implementation by the client

It creates a stronger system for understanding and responding.

Commercial agreement

Define:

domains brands, products and markets observation frequency Forum cadence evidence access artefacts executive reporting escalation client responsibilities exclusions review renewal and termination
Do not sell one universal package.
